Team GB or Team H2O
September 2012

Whilst Team GB continued to hold the torch at the Paralympics, Team H2O continued to hold their very own flame at the Southern Business Awards, the regional finals of the Portsmouth Business Excellence Awards, of which they won Small / Medium Business of the year back in February.  Despite not being crowned the regional winner on the evening, Team H2O who still considers themselves winners in their own eyes, picked themselves up, brushed themselves down and hit the dance floor to party like they have never partied before. After all, there is always next year!

The sad news of the month was the departure of Hannah P from the team to further her career. A big pair of shoes to fill, but a replacement has been found, you’re going to love them, so watch this space.

Schools out for Summer?
July 2012

Like the true beginnings of any school holiday, the rain returned, but no matter for how long or how hard it fell, nothing could dampen the spirits of the H2O crew this month. With a renewed vigour having settled successfully and without any major hiccups into their new country abode at the end of last month, it was time to knuckle down and crack on with the production of P11D’s aplenty before the 6th July deadline and the finalisation of lots of year end accounts and tax returns for clients who wanted things tied up before they went away on holiday with peace of mind.

It was back to school for Hannah O, who in her capacity as chair of the Audit Committee at Havant College, spent the morning reliving her memories from 16/17 years ago, with a trip to the college to spend  time with the staff and view the campus developments happening over the summer. Ahh, those were the days...

And last, but not least, more cake and candles for Hannah P’s 3rd H2O anniversary. Doesn’t time fly.

May Day or Mayday?
May 2012

May Day is a time to celebrate but remove a space and May Day becomes Mayday an internationally recognised distress signal. But thankfully for H2O, the month of May was more of a time for celebration than distress, with the successful completion of all of our client’s payroll year ends before the 19 May deadline. Not forgetting the celebrations for Emma’s 2nd H2O anniversary which of course was marked by the consumption of……cake!!

There was a brief respite in the apparent onset of another true British summertime full of rain, with the short and sweet appearance of heat wave, timed to perfection as Hannah O went on a 10 day camping holiday to Devon and Cornwall. The only complication was that she had packed her wellies and ski jacket instead of flip flops and vest tops!

A mad March hare?
March 2012

March saw a somewhat busy month in the world of H2O, as the 2011/2012 tax year drew to a close and we rolled up our sleeves to commence battle to complete all clients payroll year ends by the deadline on the 19th May.

March also saw the introduction of Granny Tax and Pasty Tax into most people’s vocabulary following the Chancellors latest budget, which came with no real surprised mainly due to the entire contents being leaked in the days beforehand.

And the final word for this month….a round of applause for Miss Hannah P, who has passed another of her AAT exams.

Awarding Times
January 2012

The H2O office is filled with excitement and anticipation following the announcement of the firm being shortlisted in The News Business Excellence Awards – Small Business of the Year. The team are keeping their fingers crossed for the announcement of the winning company at the awards dinner in February. Whatever the result, the team are excited of the opportunity to dig out their party frocks, dust off their DJ’s and put on their dancing shoes to celebrate the successes of the past year.

Festive Fun
December 2011

December saw exciting times in the offices of H2O full of festive fun and celebrations. The team danced the night away at their xmas party, received secret gifts from Santa and took part in the 1000 Lakeside cake decorating competition. And the icing on the cake… Hannah P passed another of her AAT exams.

October 2011

Following on from the launch of our new website in September, H2O have decided to spread the word a little further and can now be found tweeting far and wide. Follow us at h2oaccountants for the latest tax tips and deadlines with a touch of gossip just for fun.

Let's celebrate
August 2011

Raise your glasses and cheer out loud for the exam success of two of the H2O team. Hannah P passed her intermediate level AAT exams, whilst even more impressive Emma passed her professional stage ACA exams making her an official ‘Part- Qualified’ Chartered Accountant.

A brave man?
June 2011

H2O are pleased to announce and introduce our first male colleague, Chris, who will be joining the team as Practice Manager, bringing with him a love for start up business, living by the sea and Arsenal football club.

Expanding the sisterhood
April 2011

Well the Portsmouth News might have described our team as more like 3 sisters working together than a bunch of accountants, but its time that 3 became 4, with the introduction of Celia, bringing bundles of expertise, energy, a whole load of patience and passion for motorbikes.

Tax return success
February 2011

Following a somewhat chaotic January with files piled high and tensions rising, H2O have successfully completed tax returns for many clients in order to avoid unnecessary financial penalties. It’s time for Hannah O to take a week off and head to the slopes, so see you in March.

Ready, Steady, Go
August 2012

August saw London host the Olympics and what a spectacular event. As the athletes put the finishing touches to their preparations, the nation came together in celebration and support, the Queen jumped out of a helicopter to mark the occasion and David Beckham delivered the Olympic torch to the stadium in a speed boat. And as the fever continued, our athletes racked up the medals, beat personal and Olympic records, shared tears of joy and sadness whilst the Spice Girls got back together for one last patriotic performance.  As the fireworks faded and Muse closed the proceedings, we wondered whether life would ever be the same again.

And as nothing should spoil these memories, so we’ll leave it there for this month, apart from saying goodbye and good luck to Emma who left the H2O team.

Rooms with a view!
June 2012

Whilst there has been one constant that has remained the same since 1952, the Queen, most things in life change on a daily basis. It is therefore with great pleasure that H2O can report one of those changes being a relocation of their offices to a delightful converted cowshed in Wickham. The move will provide H2O with their own quirky identity (a bit like the team), ease of access  and parking for visitors and a pleasant work environment  involving daylight and fresh air, a real novelty! The team are confident that you will fall in love with their new home too and can’t wait to greet you, show you the sights and make their home feel like your home too.

Finally this month, with rapturous applause and of course more cake, but without all the bunting and union jacks connected to the Queens jubilee, Chris celebrated his 1st anniversary on the H2O throne. Only another 59 years in the position and his long term service might qualify for a national bank holiday too.

It's raining cake!!
April 2012

It has been a month of consuming cakes in the offices of H2O……always a pleasure and never a chore. Celebratory cakes for beating March’s targets and Hannah P ticking off another AAT exam, Monday mid-morning cakes to beat the post weekend blues, doughnuts from suppliers and anniversary cakes to mark the 1 year anniversary of Celia the ultimate cake queen joining the team. Outside of the office it may not have stopped raining but inside the office the constant supply of cakes has staved off any attack of SAD, although the effect on the waist lines hasn’t been quite so positive!!

A Winning Formula
February 2012

Picture the scene, a crowded Portsmouth Guildhall, the H2O crew dressed up to the nines in their glad rags without a tax or VAT return in sight! The atmosphere is tense as the audience wait with anticipation to see if they will be crowned winners of one of the prestigious News Business Excellence Awards for 2012. Fred Dinnage is on stage introducing one of the final awards of the evening, Small / Medium Business of the Year. The competition was tough, the judges were impressed by the level of entries received, but the winner is....H2O ACCOUNTING!! Yes we actually won... so very excited, so very speechless (a good job Hannah P wasn’t) and so very proud of our achievement... So here’s a big thanks to all our clients and contacts who have supported us over the past 3 years. THANK YOU.

Meet the team
September 2011

At H2O we are excited to announce the launch of our updated website including a brand spanking new team page where you can now put a face to the name and find out what makes each team member tick.

We're on the move!
July 2011

After a weekend of hard graft, painting, cleaning, lifting, shifting and building flat pack furniture, H2O are proud to invite you into our new offices. We haven’t moved far though, only round a corner and along the corridor, so you can all still contact us as before.

Officially '2'
May 2011

H2O celebrates its second birthday, as the team take a moment to reflect on our continual growth and success since we were born in May 2009. Over a period, which has seen one of the worst recessions in the UK, H2O has grown from strength to strength in many ways, proving that the old age saying “where there’s a will there’s a way”.

Team of the year
March 2011

H2O have been nominated for the Portsmouth News Business Awards Team of the Year 2011, following a surprise application by one of the team themselves, Miss Hannah ‘P’, describing her colleagues Hannah ‘O’ and Emma as “dedicated hard workers and is proud to work along side them.’

The 'Smart'er choice
January 2011

One exciting but snowy day in January saw the delivery of the new H2O Mobil in the form of a bright turquoise smart car covered in morph men and bubbles to be driven by Hannah P, our very own stig! If you see the mean machine driving around feel free to wave.
